Flat Nose Pliers

Flat Nose Pliers

Weller Erem Flat Nose Pliers for Electronics and Medical Device Manufacturing

Our Weller Erem flat nose pliers grip flat materials across their full surface and distribute the gripping pressure evenly. They are used in electronics manufacturing as well as in the production of medical devices (medical technology), for example the 2442P and the 531E. All models are ESD-safe and made in Switzerland. The 2442P with its ergonomic MagicSense grip and the compact 542E form the core of the range, whilst the 531E with exchangeable nylon jaws complements them for more specialised tasks.

2442P: Ergonomic Grip for Continuous Use

In electronics manufacturing, gripping tasks rarely occur in isolation. Anyone who regularly positions, holds and aligns components soon notices whether a pair of flat nose pliers has been ergonomically thought through. The 2442P from our 2400 MagicSense series was developed for exactly this kind of continuous use. Its grip prevents hand fatigue, and at 146 mm long and just 78 g, the pliers sit comfortably in the hand. The fine jaws, with a 3.4 mm tip width and precisely finished edges, hold flat materials securely, even when space on the PCB is tight. A non-reflective surface and ESD protection are standard on the 2442P.

Three Flat Nose Pliers for Different Requirements

Alongside the 2442P, we offer two further flat nose pliers in the Series 500 with a soft foam grip, each with its own focus. At 120 mm and 67 g, the 542E is the most compact in the range. Its 2.4 mm tip width makes it the first choice for particularly confined spaces on the PCB. The 531E takes a different approach: instead of metal jaws, it uses exchangeable nylon jaws that leave neither kinks nor scratches. This makes it well suited to forming precious metals and component leads where the surface must remain intact. All three models are ESD-safe and finished with a non-reflective coating.

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. What are flat nose pliers used for?

Flat nose pliers let you grip, hold and bend flat materials. The flat jaw surfaces distribute pressure evenly across the workpiece, unlike long nose pliers and round nose pliers, whose jaws concentrate pressure at a single point. In electronics manufacturing, flat nose pliers are used above all for positioning components and bending connecting wires.

  2. Are Weller Erem flat nose pliers ESD-safe?

Yes, all three models, the 2442P, the 542E and the 531E, are ESD-safe and designed for ESD-protected work areas. The ESD protection prevents sensitive components from being damaged by uncontrolled electrostatic discharge.

  3. What is the 531E with nylon jaws suited to?

The 531E is suited to any task where the workpiece must not be damaged during gripping. Typical applications include forming delicate component leads and working on precious metal surfaces. A practical advantage is the jaw change: worn nylon jaws can be replaced without having to replace the entire pair of pliers.

  4. Which Weller Erem flat nose pliers are right for me?

All three Weller Erem flat nose pliers are suited to precision work in electronics; the difference lies in the grip concept and the jaw type. For continuous use in series production, we recommend the 2442P, as its ergonomic MagicSense grip relieves the hand even during extended use. If you mainly want to work compactly and manoeuvrably, reach for the 542E with its 120 mm. And when delicate surfaces or precious metals are involved, the 531E with nylon jaws is the right choice.
